Midleton Writers' Group was established with the aim of providing a forum for writers interested in exposing their work in a supportive environment. Readings are followed by critiques from fellow members when desired. Some do this with a view to getting published while others just do it for fun!
Since it was set up it has seen many members have their work published both in local media and in poetry and short story anthologies.
We have also established links with other writers groups as well as with other groups of interest to our members.
Best of all, funding from Cork County Council has enabled us to carry out writing workshops 2/3 times a year with long-established writers from all areas including poetry, short stories, children’s stories, theatre, radio...
It's a great opportunity available to members and non-members alike. Details of upcoming events will be posted on this blog, so watch this space...
So whether you aspire to be the next Seamus Heaney, the next editor of the Guardian, or if you just want some light-hearted entertainment, come along, there's a place for you.
We meet at the Courtyard Craft Centre, Midleton, on the first Thursday of every month at 8pm.
